It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce James Hall as our new Head of Girls’ rugby at Cambridge RUFC. James will continue to build on the strong foundations that have been laid by Cate, Toby, Sam and Sarah and will look to enhance our current offering.
DoR Richie Williams commented, ‘As we approach our centenary season in 2023, it is an exciting period for the club, and in particular girls’ rugby. During the application process, James was the standout candidate, through his experiences and his enthusiasm for player development. James shares the same vision as the Club and we look forward to supporting him and the Rubies program in the future.’
‘I’m very excited to be joining Cambridge rugby club as the head of girls’ rugby. The opportunity to come into a club that has a strong community as well as performance focus and a real growth mindset is very appealing to me. In my eight years of coaching I have learnt that the thing that makes a program and a team successful are the people that are involved.
It is my hope that we can build an inclusive program to suit both performance focused players and the social focused players. The opportunity to build a women’s program and a girl’s academy system is a great expansion for the current Rubies program and I would like to think that there is a pathway for youth players to advance up the ranks from minis to one day play for a 1st XV Cambridge Ladies team and further play International rugby.
The opportunity to come into your family and help develop ladies and girl’s rugby both at the club and in the local Cambridge area is a challenge I am very excited to be taking on and I can’t wait to meet you all and get started on this journey.’
