Introducing JOCA to Cambridge Rugby Members

Every minute in the world over 80 people die by suicide. That's over 80 sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, fathers & mothers for every 80 minute game of rugby.

Cambridge Rugby is pleased to announce that we are launching a welfare support initiative for our Players and Members.

Just One Click Away (JOCA), which was formed by Welwyn RFC after the tragic loss of 3 young men through suicide and now has a number of affiliated Rugby Clubs working with them. A great support network has been established covering mental health, addictions, bereavement and so much more.

Ŵe feel that it is important, that as a club, we not only support each other on the pitch, but extend that support off it as well. We recognise that there are many situations in life that you may need some guidance or a friendly ear, or an event that you’ve not encountered before and need some advice.

We adopted this initiative with an internal volunteer team created to make this live and promote it as part of our one club ethos. We aren't qualified therapists; this is not a 24h service but if we can get talking about mental health and support just one person before the dark clouds start forming then we have made a difference.

To sign up the JOCA initiative please use the following link from the Govox site, you will be asked to complete a short wellbeing questionnaire https://www.govox.com/club-opt-in/

The system will send out monthly check ins to see how you are doing. You can opt out at any time. The ongoing plan of this initiative is to be in a position soon to provide financial support covering 1-1 counselling for those that require it
