Welcome to the home page of the U16’s, we offer youth rugby to players who are in school Year 11.
Introduction
Youth rugby for this age-group is 15-a-side, competitive scrums, and contested line-outs.
We focus on the RFU Core Values: Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
Age Grade Variations to the World Rugby Laws of the Game RFU Regulation 15 are complied with at all times.
Our goal is for the players to learn rugby skills in a positive and safe environment* while still enjoying the competitive nature of the game. All our Coaches, Referees & First Aiders are RFU qualified and DBS checked. Most of those involved are parent volunteers.
*Player welfare is our primary concern and is at the core of all we do. However the players are getting bigger, faster and more committed as each season passes and injuries can occur in what is a physical contact sport.
Rugby is a fantastic sport for teenagers, which can provide many physical and social benefits, including increased confidence, self-esteem, self-discipline, enjoyable physical exercise and being part of a team.
We offer a positive and enjoyable environment for players to interact and learn in a supportive environment.
The benefits to your teen of supporting his rugby on a Sunday morning has been proven in their well-being and parents are encouraged to support their team by attending training and matches. This also provides parents an ability to support their teen in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Training
The rugby season starts on the first Sunday in September and finishes in April. Training takes place at Volac Park, Grantchester Rd, Cambridge, CB3 9ED on Sunday mornings between 1100 - 1230. Free parking is available at the ground and please arrive approximately 15mins beforehand to ensure a prompt start.
Joining
We are always looking to expand our playing squad and welcome all new players from complete beginners upwards.
