Another exciting recruit is backrow player, Anthony Maka, who joins us from relegated Rotherham Titans. An ex England Students international, he has played in the same team as his cousins, Billy and Maka Vunipola whilst at Saracens. He is an extremely talented player that possesses excellent footwork and power in the contact area. He caused us all kinds of problems when we played against him last season with his direct ball carrying. We are excited about welcoming him, his partner Amy, and little boy Tino to the club.

Speaking in the week, Maka commented; ‘Firstly, I just want to say a huge thank you to Richie and Cambridge Rugby for showing interest in me and giving me the opportunity to represent the club. From what I remember playing against them last season, Cambridge are an exciting team that like to move the ball into space. I am very much looking forward to getting involved and am really excited about my family relocating to such a beautiful city. It will be great to support the club in their exciting vision moving forwards.’

We now possess a wealth of riches in this important position. With the physical nature of National 1 rugby, we now have a robust and versatile looking back row. Our new recruits will add significant value to our already strong roster.

Listen to Richie talk with Jacko about the signing, and also about the return to rugby.  (Please note this was recorded before the RFU announced the move to Stage C of the return roadmap)
