What fantastic news – RUGBY IS BACK.

England Rugby have confirmed that Rugby Clubs can go back to training from Monday 29th March 2021.
https://www.crufc.co.uk/news/return-to-rugby-29-mar
Please note – we are waiting for an update from England Rugby on the possibilities of training and matches after May 31st 2021 (when the current season is due to end). We hope for good news on this.

This means, that for the majority of our Age Groups, your first session back will be on Easter Sunday (4th April 2021) – normal times and pitches. Of course we understand that families may choose to spend their weekend meeting friends and loved ones they have not seen for a considerable amount of time, but we are still excited about the prospect of having some form of Rugby at Cambridge Rugby Club.

Here is the timeline we are working towards:

  • Monday 29th March – allowed to train
  • Sunday 18th April – Colours day (bar and food available)
  • Monday 26th April - able to play Contact rugby (with no scrums or mauls)
  • Sunday 2nd May – Club fixture v Shelford RFC (further details to come)
  • Sunday 7th, 15th, & 23rd May – further fixtures (TBC)
  • Sunday 30th May – current season ends (but this is subject to change)

We will be following the Return to Rugby Pathway, from England Rugby (https://www.crufc.co.uk/news/return-to-rugby-29-mar) which gives details of what we are allowed to do and when.
First up – we can get straight back into Contact training with NO scrums or mauls.

Please be rest assured we are continuing to work hard to make sure that we are COVID safe, and constantly review our safety protocols, so all our members feel comfortable coming to CRUFC. Unfortunately for the 1st 2 weekends back (4th & 11th) our ability to serve food and drink is likely to be limited.

Please keep an eye out on your normal communication channels for your Age Group (SPOND, Emails, Facebook, Whatsapps, Teamer, Club Website) for further updates specific to your child.
Contact your Head of Age Group (or myself) if you have any further questions or require more information (my.chairman@crufc.co.uk).

Finally, if you are looking for a great way for your children to spend Easter, then why not sign up for our Easter Camps? All details are here - https://www.crufc.co.uk/news/easter-rugby-camps

We look forward to seeing you down at Volac Park soon.

WOOHOO – RUGBY IS BACK….
