For the first time in the Club's history, we look forward to welcoming Welsh Premiership team, Carmarthen Quins to Volac Park. Quins finished 8th last season but started the season strongly. They have a new head coach in Marc Jones, who played professional rugby for the Scarlets and more recently Sale Sharks. Up until this season, they were coached by ex-Cambridge fly half Craig Evans. The link doesn’t end there; current Cambridge centre Scott Lloyd played a number of seasons at Quins.
We are expecting a stern challenge this weekend as we look to improve from last weeks performance against Bury St Edmunds. We welcome back captain George Bretag Norris to the squad, along with a first outing for new midfield player, Tom Hoppe. Another player looking to make his 1st XV debut will be George Gadsby, son of club legend Shaun.
A number of players are unavailable for selection this weekend including; Joe Tarrant, Kwaku Asiedu, Harry Hall, Matty Collins, Corey Lewis and Gareth Baxter. Most will be back in contention for our last pre-season game against Championship team, Nottingham on Friday 26th August.
Our Exiles also play their first warm up game this weekend which is a 4.30pm kick off at home against St Neots.
