In addition to the announcements of new signings Seb Brownhill and Matt Collins last week, Cambridge Rugby is delighted to announce the retention of six members of last season’s front row union who have all extended their contracts with the club for the upcoming campaign!
At loosehead, Harry Morley and Henry Peck will compete with new signing Seb Brownhill for the No.1 shirt. Morley is in his second spell at the club after gaining valuable experience in the Championship with Jersey, while Peck is fast approaching 100 caps having made a significant contribution to the continued improvement of our set piece.
At hooker, Ben Brownlie, Willie Priestley and Corey Lewis will battle it out for the starting spot which was held by Brownlie last season, in which he scored an impressive 27 tries including 4 hat tricks.
At tighthead prop, new signing Matt Collins will compete with former Saracens and England U20s prop Billy Walker for the No.3 shirt and to be the cornerstone of the scrum.
Director of Rugby, Richie Williams has targeted adding strength in depth as the squad continues to develop,
“The additions of Seb Brownhill and Matty Collins, to an already competitive and talented group of players, will add the quality and depth that we have been looking for to help the squad to progress. With the addition of Neil Harris as scrummaging coach, this group will continue to challenge each other and create competition for selection which can only improve our team.”
