Harvest Installations Cambridge Man of the Match Jake Garside

Cambridge made it six games unbeaten with a well-worked win over Tonbridge Juddians, who fell to their seventh – and most emphatic – defeat of the season at Grantchester Road.

The writing was on the wall for the National One new boys in the first minute: Joe Green’s touch down may have been disallowed, , but it set the tone for the afternoon.

Ben Brownlie, again, was in imperious form off the driving maul, touching down four times as Tonbridge struggled to stem the red tide. Laurence Rayner converted the hooker’s first after 13 minutes.

All that served to do was provoke the visitors’ best spell of the game – Murray Galbraith-Lowe touched down 31 minutes in with Rob White converting, after their side had been adjudged’ held up’ twice in the preceding couple of plays, and life was difficult for the hosts.

Three minutes later, though, Cambridge regained the lead through the sniping Saints loan scrum half Jake Garside, Rayner converted and, four minutes into added time Brownlie struck again at the second attempt – again converted – as his side laid siege to the Tonbridge line.

The hooker’s hat-trick six minutes into the second half, extras added, made the game safe.

His fourth came from a line-out after a blistering break of 70 metres from Garside, who’d looked nailed on for his second of the afternoon.

Will Wand touched down for number six – his first for the club - Darryl Veenedaal added a seventh – and Duncan Tout snatched a last-gasp consolation for the visitors.
