Newmarket visits Volac Park for the Under 15s cup fixture
A determined Newmarket turned up today for our third fixture in this year’s cup. After the disappointment of last week, Cambridge were keen to make amends and do well against Newmarket. The opposition had a good core squad and did not make the day easy for Cambridge defending well and keeping Cambridge out. A strong Newmarket pack made Cambridge work hard in the tight and winning the ball putting our backs under pressure however our defensive line held initially and Cambridge were able to exploit some of the available space allowing Cambridge to score the first try going under the posts. Further try’s for Ilyas Haidour 2, William Dorasamy 2, Daniel Kember 2, George Nearney 2, Kayhan Akyildiz, Clark MacFarlane & Franklin Scott.
Try’s from Newmarket included one from there Fly half with a winger’s try from Ethan Weston and another from Tom Prior
A strong performance from both Lewis Moat on the wing & Einaras Grigas at full back made it difficult for the opposition to penetrate the line and some good work in the second row from Adriano Fiorin & Thomas Rowe proved an all round successful day for the U15s
Additionally a profitable day with the boot from both William Dorasamy converting 5 from 6 and Clark MacFarlane getting 3 from 5. Final score Cambridge U15s 71 - 17 Newmarket.
Thank you the Newmarket for the fixture played in good spirit by all and good luck for the rest of the season.
