Cambridge have already played Shelford this year, but we were invited to this special fixture to help the Shelford team celebrate the life of Sarah Campbell - wife of head coach, Mark Campbell and mum to Shelford u15 Hooker, Matthew. Sarah unfortunately lost her battle to cancer, so today the two teams based in Cambridge came together as a mark of respect to celebrate her life. The game started with all those present holding a minute’s silence in memory, then both teams took to the field to provide a great display of rugby with the Shelford team coming out on top.
For our part today
Man of the match Franklin Scott
Tries today from Harry Holmes-Chatfield & William Dorasamy
Conversions William Dorasamy
Final score 43-12
Regardless of the score the winner today was the rugby and how two rival teams can come together as a community to show support for our friends from Shelford at this difficult time.
Well played today Shelford and good luck for the rest of the season, but most of all thank you for letting us share this day with you. RIP Sarah Campbell
