Saffron Walden RFC
Cambridge RUFC

After an extended break, forced on us by the recent hard ground, the Under 15s played their first game of the season with a trip to Saffron Walden. Cambridge started well crossing the try-line for the first try, however, Saffron Walden were up for the game and ran in the next try. When Cambridge played with pace we were difficult to stop, although Saffron Walden did a terrific job of slowing the game down and winning the ruck area. When we played fast attacking rugby we were difficult to stop and able to attack from anywhere on the pitch and some long range attacks resulted in tries. Good support allowed us to put on a good display of rugby and we ran in seven tries and converted five of these.  A great start for Kayhan who scored two tries in his first game for the club.

Lots to work on but a solid start. Next week a trip to Wymondham, Norfolk.

Man of the Match went to Patrick with a great side step to take him under the posts & to Harry Holmes-Chatfield who dominated at prop.  Saffron Walden named George Nearney as their Cambridge player of the match, which is a good start for him after joining us at the start of the season.

Tries from Patrick Mangle - 2, Kayhan Akyildiz - 2, George Nearney - 2, Franklin Scott - 1

Conversions from Clark MacFarlane - 1, William Dorasamy - 4

Final score 10 - 45

Good luck to all the Cambridge players involved in the DPP & PDG this week.
